I do understand what everyone is dealing with. This is my second beautiful Chi and T.C. being a young puppy absoluetly hates going outside in bad weather. I am trying to train him with potty pads and if he is confined he uses them faithfully. When he is permitted to run about the house it is hit or miss. Oh well keep trying I suppose. To those of you who live in Arizona you are very LUCKY!!! And so are your Chi's!

All my dogs are trained to the potty pads, although Porsche and Molly prefer to go outside. If the weather is bad they will use the potty pads. Dogs are not allowed the run of the house unsupervised unless they are 100% trained...just my rule. Everyone except for Patch is crate-trained and even little Spot, at 4 weeks, knows to go on the pad (she is currently living with her mother Patch in a pen).

My puppy doesn't go outside when the weather is bad. I tryed at 1st but she wouldn't go to the bathroom outside as soon as i brought her in she would go on the floor. I talked to my uncle who also has a chihuahua and he said that his vet told him not to take his chi outside if the weather is bad which ment 35degrees or lower or if it was windy because it would get sick and wouldn't go 2 the bathroom outside. So after i heard that i just put down puppy pads. my puppy has been doing really well with them. But i plan on taking her outside again as soon as the weather gets nice again if that ever happens.

Has anyone tried to use Puppy Litter during the bad weather instead of puppy pads?? I was curious if that would confuse them or not?
