im gonna start off by saying this isnt the reverse cough or the sneeze or anything. i know what that is. and pixie hasnt done this until now. lately it seem s like its more at night after pixies really hyper active, she comes upstairs, and shes all gassy feeling and if u listen to her tummy it gurgles... well she lays in he rbed and she makes this odd noise like shes choking on her own tongue and when you look at her she kind of weezes, and then she jiggles her tongue and makes this gaspy/ choke noise... and then last night she coughed a few times after that. but it makes me worry... anyone else have this happen? is it normal? what could cause this???

I too would take her to the vets, just to be sure that it's not anything serious. Lizzy doesn't make any strange noises at all,she doesn't even have that inverse sneeze like most chi's. Does she Throw up after? Because I've heard of a person throwing up if they get really pumped up or 'Hyper'. I don't know if dogs do the same thing. I hope you get some answers soon.

nope she doesnt throw up.. its not that same kind of thing. it almost seems like her allergies are buggin her or something cuz i think shes actually just breathin out of hermouth when she does it and not her nose. and its only sometimes. and you know when u have allergies and u try to work out sometimes u egt stuffy. or maybe thats just me lol. ithasnt happened since. we will see what happens. if it doesnt go away in another week ill try to get her to the vets again. but it hasnt happened since so hopefully it was just some weird random unexplainable chi behavior lol

That's good that it hasn't happened since. By the way you explained it sounds like just a little noise she just made, nothing serious. I'm glad! ;D

small chis have whats called weak windpipe syndrome ,when exited they breath in too fast, causing the windpipe to collapse, thats where the weird sound comes from. they do not out grow it,but it seams to cause no ill efects. my chi is 3 years old now she makes this sound all the time.hope this helps 7ma3
