well Rocky is 6 months old now and doing well with the potty training, accidents are few between. I still keep him in a 30x30 ex pen while I am not home, it has his toys, crate, food and water along with a puppy pad area if he can't hold it till I come home. The problem is the past 4 days when I come home the pad is torn to shreds and of course the mess is not where it should be. Has anyone else ran into this problem before? Should I stop leaving the pads? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can get puppy pad holders that may help but he will probably still scread them, what about spay them with Bitter bite or something like that. Let us know how you get on I had a Bulldog that used to eat the plastic of her crate each time I went out and I never stopped her doing that.

well I left him nothing today and he peed on his blanket....I also found some of the plastic from the puppy pad in his stool today. It seems like he likes the plastic edging more than anything...Maybe I will try the tray. Any other suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Yes, I was going to suggest the pad holder and the bitter apple spray. They don't like the taste of it so maybe try spraying on the part that he loves to chew.

grace used to do that when she was young and learning... i used bitter apple..and the other thing i did... i would sit on my bed.. and wait till id see her start shredding it..or whenever shed play with pixie and got real hyper, shed run over and grab a pad and start pulling it across the room, id spray her and correct her. after about a week..she never did a thing to the pads but use them. i guess i got the point across. good luck!

It only took me a few times of a stern NO to break Cocoa when he tried to play tug of war with the pad. Does he have some toys and something to chew on when he is penned up?

well it has been over a week I believe and the tray is helping, a few scratches everyonce in a while but nothing compared to the mess from before!
