She was a lovely doctor...took lots of time with each of the girls....wrote out everything for us.....
Results....
Zari...Lt eye....mild phthisis bulbi ....( smaller globe )
non visual
corneal scarring with central endothelial plaque with persistent pupillary membrane attachments
deep structure non visual.....eye absent of usual responses
pressure 24
Rt eye.....persisant pupillary membrane...iris to iris ( strings of membrane feeds the eye in utero...should be gone by 5-6 weeks of age )
pressure 26
Izzy....Rt eye....multiple congenital defects...non visual
microphthalmos
micro cornea
absence of anterior chamber
pressure 12
enucleation if injury to eye or glaucoma presents
Lt eye persisant pupillary membrane ...iris to iris
pressure 22
Both girls at risk for glaucoma..... we were given a signs/symptom chart for acute glaucoma to keep handy at all times......to have pressures done on regular basis....
both girls conditions are congenital......Zari may have had an injury to her cornea but her eye was already non visual d/t deformaties....
The girls were little angels....Izzy is quite used to having her pressures done, staining done etc but this was all new to Zari and she was a real poppet.....
she recommended enucleation of Izzys right eye is she injures it or show any signs of acute gluacoma or has ongoing infections...she said if Iz was a lab she would recommend removal now but since Izzy is so sedate we should just watch it...I told her Izzy is far from sedate....going into the bush etc by herself whenever she can sneak away...well thats an absolute no-no from now on !
all in all it was a very satisfying visit.
