I took Jinxy to the vet this morning, because she wasn't well. I suspected she had a cold. Apparently, dogs don't have a cold like we do - I didn't know that. The vet said that it wasn't a cold, but an allergic reaction. I think it's probably the new clothes softener. I washed ALL her clothes and blankets with it. The worst part is that Jinxy was sneezing and I thought that she was getting ill and cold, so I kept putting her in her bed under her blanket to keep her warm. My poor baby, I was making her feel worse.

She isn't feeling any better. No, the vet didn't give her any meds. I'm wondering if it's heyfever. My allergies are really bad at the moment, so maybe Jinxy is allergic to pollen etc... I don't know what to do. I'm in the process of cleaning everything in the house. It is clean but I can't think of anything else I could do. Do you know if steam would help?

Nate says allergies typically aren't upper respiratory for dogs but are in the skin. You could try putting her in the bathroom while you shower....it could help moisturize her nasal passages. Big hugs to Jinxy...I hope she's feeling well soon!

Thank you Kristin. Jinxy was getting worse, so I took her to the Vet again, today. He told me what Nate said. (Say thank you to Nate from me) When I took her last week (Jinxy was sneezing), he told me to check if I used anything new, so I thought it was the clothes softener. I cleaned everything yesterday, but Jinxy wasn't doing very well. I took her for a walk this morning, but she wasn't herself. She was walking very slowly and couldn't breath properly. Well, the vet did an x-ray and also checked her heart. Turns out Jinxy has a collapsed trachea. He didn't prescribe anything, but Jinxy is going on a very specific diet to lose all her excess weigh by next month. I hope everything goes well. Jinxy is asleep in her playpen. The vet gave her a sedative and she's very calm.

poor Jinxy...I have been thinking about her....what treatment ( if any ) will she need for the collapsed trachea ? so scary when they aren't feeling well... Tell her Izzy sends kisses...she is on a diet also...its a tough go for them...Izzy is the short legged, stocky build chihuahua and they seem to carry more weight then the deer type...at least in my home...Bella could eat a moose and not put an oz on...if Izzy looked at a moose..2 lbs right to the backside

I am so sorry to hear about Jinxy, give her lots of loves from me xxx What a scary diagnosis of the collapsed trachea. My thoughts are with you xx Olive is having a bad allergy to a bug bite - both her and Moose got bit by something in bed Saturday night/early Sunday. Moose's eye swelled up but is almost normal now, but Olive has rashes moving all over body and is soooooo itchy. She is on benadryl, baths in cool water to soothe and has to wear her pajamas and an ointment to soothe (She was itching so hard, she made herself bleed). I hope it goes away soon. They sure know how to worry us don't they?

Thank you Kathleen and Michelle! Jinxy was a little better yesterday. She's on special food, because we want her to lose weight fast. Fingers crossed she will lose the weight this time, otherwise it could be a sign of other problems. Kathleen, the vet said that when it gets really bad, they treat it with anti-inflammatory drugs. Jinxy's condition should improve a lot when she lose weight. The vet advised me to feed her once a day, preferably at night. Poor Jinxy was begging for food all day! She was sitting pretty, looking cute... ;D She ate about 25 grams at night, even though I gave her 40 grams.
