Jess.. You said you have little fat puppies at your place. Do you find that it means that they are bigger than normal size chi's or are they just healthy pups and their weight regulates as they get older?
I'm curious as to what your puppies weigh at birth then again at 2-3 weeks?
Do smaller litters mean bigger pups?

Leigh...my last litter had 2 pups...one died and the one that survived was 6.5 oz at birth....Lola (the dam) only weighs alittle less then 6 lbs. The pup is now 1 1/2 and only weighs 5 1/2 lbs. So that is an example of a large pup who turned out average size.

The chart is just a guess really. Chopper was 1.5 ounces at birth, granite he was premature so maybe he would have weighed 2.5 or 3 ounces full term but he is now 3.5 pounds. The breeders vet said she would be suprised if he reached 2.5-3 pounds. LOL...I guess I better go show her!

Have I got the biggest piggy on here? Nope! My dixie is 9.1 lbs at 7 years old! The vet says she's a little overweight, but not much to worry about. She is just a big girl. I've often wondered if she is full blooded Chi (I was told she was) because we got her when she was 7 months old and she doesn't have the apple head, the "bug" eyes, and her legs seem longer then most. I think she is a mix. Lucy is 7 months (33 weeks) and she weighs 5.5 already. I'm hoping she won't get too much bigger.

Lucy shouldn't get much bigger than she is.

I would say as for size, she is full grown....now weight...she may put on a bit more as she fills out and matures!!
I know my Lola did....at 11 months she was 4.4lbs and now at 3.5 yrs she is 6-6.5 lbs!!! She isn't fat by any means....very muscular!!

I'd have to say that chart has been correct for all my Chis' weights. Now, granted, I did not have Porsche as a puppy...
According to the chart, Lexi was 1 lb 2 oz at 13 weeks and should finish at 3.5, +/- 0.25. Lexi is 3.2 lb. Patch was charting 4-4.5 lb and is 4.4 lb on the dot.
